We Spurs fans have been privileged to watch our results and performances improve as the 2014/15 season progresses. We are all starting to believe that Pochettino does know what he is doing. Until November, we had doubts that the possession football was positive and effective enough. There was talk of the extra training that the players were made to undertake being unpopular. Some clubs seemed happy enough to cede possession until we got 10 yards into their half and were content to try and sneak a goal from a set piece or break. We had and still have the habit of starting slow and conceding early. I picked out Harry Kane a couple of seasons ago as a real talent in my Hotspur HQ column. Back in November I was bemoaning the fact that he was left on the bench in favor of a misfiring Soldado and Adebayor.
In the ensuing months he has taken advantage of every opportunity, scored for fun and soon established himself as our number one-and possibly soon to be England’s. Favourable but close results were dotted with reversals against “smaller” clubs. One or two wins appeared to be a bit lucky.
2014/15 season
Managed to get to first two home games...
I was privileged to be at the Arsenal game. It was the best Spurs performance in years. They didn’t know what hit them, just like when we put 5 past Chelsea a few weeks earlier and the win was well deserved. Eriksen has come into his own and excellent performances including world class free kicks have shown why we could afford to let Sigurdsson go. Lloris? What can I say? Ever reliable, we’d be nowhere without him.
Pochettino has successfully rotated the squad with the result that we are almost in March and competing on 3 fronts with a Wembley League Cup Final looming on 1 March. I hate what they have done to the FA Cup, splattering each round across 5 days and leaving the teams that play after the weekend knowing who they’ll play next before they play the current round. I would enjoy nothing more than seeing us win it again but to be fair, having got to the League Cup Final, dropping out of the FA Cup is the least damaging way of reducing our fixture congestion.
My League Cup Final ticket has arrived. Here’s to an exciting climax to the season. Meanwhile I have added my pics from the Arsenal game to the photo gallery.
They have just done it again! coming back from 2-0 down at WHL vs West Ham for Harry to equalise from the spot in the 95th minute.
